My
Family
I
want to share you something about my valuable things in my life. One of the
most valuable things in my life is my family, especially my parents. I was born
in the middle family. I was the fifth of five children. I have one older sister
and three brothers. My older sister’s name is Fitri Manurung and my brother is
Abdianto Manurung, Dede Santoni Manurung and Kendi Manurung. And yes, Manurung
is our family name same as my name, Astrini Manurung.
I
am a Bataknese who was born in Depok. My older sister and my brothers were born
in Depok too. But, my parents is true Bataknese. They were born in Medan and
they can speak Batak language. Actually, if my dad and my mom talking each
other, they use Batak language. But if they speak to us, their children, they
use Bahasa Indonesia. That is why I can not speak Batak language.
My
family and I live together in a small
house. We rent a small house because we did not have enough money to buy a
house. But my older sister and my oldest brother did not live together with us.
They live in separated places. My older sister live in her store. Her store has
a room for sleep. My oldest brother also live in his store because the store
has a bedroom too. Sometimes they go back to home for several times and then
they go again to their store.
To
fulfill our needs, my dad had to work. My dad is an entrepreneur. He already be
a entrepreneur for a long time. He opened a workshop not far from home. And
thank to God, it is his own workshop. Sometimes I go to the workshop and help
him as much as possible if I did not go to the collage. Initially, the workshop
is only open from 6 am to 10 pm. However, due to economic demands, the workshop
should be open 24 hours. It is quite hard to guard the workshop for 24 hours
and keep the eyes open. My father will not able to awake for 24 hours and guard
the workshop. Therefore, when my oldest brother was in collage, he should
stayed in the workshop and helped my dad. In the morning he went to the collage
and at night he came to the workshop.
The
other brothers still go to the collage just like me. Having three children who
are still in collage made us needs more money to pay all the bills. And that is
meant we must work more harder than before. Now my older sister and my oldest
brother already have a job. And yes, they are entrepreneur too just like my
parents. I hope they could be success and maybe they could have another stores
in another places.
Since
we were little, we started helping my dad and mom. My brothers helped in the
workshop. And my older sister and I helped my mom at home. But now, my mom also
helps my dad at workshop because my oldest brother already has his own job and
can not help my dad in the workshop again.
My
family never make a holiday plan. We just ever go to our hometown several
times. My dad said it is better if we save the money than we use it for
holiday. They scrimp to fulfill their children daily needs.
I
am so proud living in this family. Although we are not rich, we can still
suffice our needs. We can still live together in the house and met everyday. I
am so proud of my parents. I know their age is no longer fit for work. But for
us, their children, they still work. I am so proud of my dad. He is a shy
person but he was never embarrassed to work for fulfill the family needs. My dad
has reached the age of 70 years. But he is still strong. He is still strong
enough to lift heavy loads. He is still strong enough to stayed up late in the
workshop. When I was a kid, my dad always bring me some snacks every night and
give me what I want. He is kind person. But everybody seems like afraid of my
dad because he looks grumpy. I hope him live long and healthy always so he can
see me on the top later.
I
am so proud of my mom. She is sensitive person. Well, I think being sensitive
is one of basic character of woman, right? . She is tall and a little bit fat
but it makes perfect. I love her .. she is too strong to become a women. She
can do anything which is unexpected to be done. She can fix our fan, she can
fix my umbrella, she can help me to create my handicraft for school. My mom is
a housewife but now she has to helped my dad in the workshop. She has to stayed
up late too : ( . As housewife, my mom is great chef too. I really love any
food that she made. Not only me, My friends also love that and that is makes me
really proud of my mom. She is the best !!
Our
parents are the best person. They can be our best friend. We can talk so many
stories with our mom or dad. We can share every moment that we done in our
school. They can be our guard. They always watch us when we learn to walk for
the first time. They hold us tight when we are in crowded place. They can be
our teachers. They teach us everything. They teach us to eat ourselves, teach
us to walk, teach us every value in this life. They teach us to always be best
person.
My
family is the most valuable thing in my life. I will do anything for my family.
I did not want to make my parents feels sad. I will do the best for my education
and my life. I hope, I can make them proud of me and make them happier than
before. One of my dream is buy them a house and go trip together with my
parents and my siblings.
